Summer travel season is here, but the trips we remember most are often less about where we go than who we experience them with.

In this ICYMI episode, Sixthman CEO Jeff Cuellar explains why passionate fans will rearrange their calendars, cross traditional demographic lines, and travel wherever it takes when an experience is built around something they love and a community that loves it with them.

HEATHER

It's officially summer travel season, and everywhere you look, people are chasing the next great trip. I, myself, just got back from a week in Vacationland, aka the great state of Maine.

Each summer, without fail, I’m reminded that some of the most memorable travel experiences aren't about the destination at all. They're about who you get to experience them with.

When Jeff Cuellar from Sixthman joined us on Fandom Unpacked, he talked about why passionate communities will completely rethink what they're willing to do when the experience feels like it's built just for them.

JEFF CUELLAR

I would like to say that there is some secret special sauce, but it does. It comes down to passion. And demographics, throw out the window. A lot of times some of our events will, you know, well, they'll actually sail from like a Tuesday to a Sunday. And I'm like, time doesn't matter. What time of year doesn't matter. Because if there's that one thing that you are that excited about, and I think we all have that that we're extremely passionate about, if we're able to pull that together and provide an immersive experience with your tribe, then they're in.

Maybe it’s time I book that cruise. You can hear our full conversation with Jeff at the link in the episode description. I’m Heather, and this has been Fandom Unpacked: In Case You Missed It.
